- Impulse Tracker and Windows '95
-
- Not much here, because I haven't been playing around with it much.. but...
-
- 1) GUS Users.
-
- I haven't been able to get hold of the UltraSound Windows '95 drivers to
- test with the program, but *WITHOUT* them installed, the routines seem
- to work fine, as long as the tracker's window is highlighted. If you move
- to another window, then it takes ages for each update to occur.
-
- 2) SB Users.
-
- Originally, I COULDN'T use Impulse Tracker in SB16 mode AT ALL in Win '95.
- When I removed the Window's Sound drivers (including the Gameport driver),
- then it worked fine! And the playback didn't even slow down when another
- window was selected! After this, I tried to reinstall my SB drivers, but
- the setting *DETECTED* by Creative Labs for the LOW DMA was incorrect.
- I changed this manually (you get a warning message), and then tried
- IT.EXE again - it worked!!!
-
- Also, if Window's starts swapping EMS memory to disk, then you're gonna
- be in *big* trouble when playback starts, due to the fact that the mixing
- routines need to access the memory quickly, and disk-swapping simply takes
- too long! You will know that the memory is being swapped to disk if, when
- you move onto a sample on the sample list, disk access occurs. This is
- because the memory is accessed to draw the waveform.
-
- I don't know what use this little DOC file will be, but I hope you manage
- to get it all working nicely!
-
- 3) SB Pro users.
-
- Several people have written to me with problems concerning SB Pro...
- if you can figure out how to work this out, let me know, and I'll include
- it in here in the next version!
